Hearing Loss

Helping injured workers get the benefits they deserve

When people think of work injuries, they don't typically think about hearing loss. But it does happen in workplaces and can have a very debilitating effect on workers' lives. Workers who suffer hearing loss because of their job are eligible for workers' compensation benefits, but those benefits can be difficult to get.

The workers' compensation attorneys at the Law Offices of Adam M. Kotlar, LLC help workers who have suffered hearing loss navigate the claims process to get the benefits they need and deserve. Our firm has been helping injured workers since 1995 throughout New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. We know the laws, we know how the system works, and we know how to get results.

Causes of workplace hearing loss injuries

Workers usually suffer hearing loss as a result of being exposed to loud noise. This exposure could occur over time - for example, working near loud machinery. Or the loud noise could only happen once, such as an explosion. Hearing loss could also occur as a result of an object puncturing the eardrum.

Some jobs present a higher risk of hearing loss than others. But hearing loss could happen at any workplace. But an employer may challenge whether an employee's hearing loss was job-related. That can make pursuing workers' compensation benefits difficult.

One of the tactics insurance companies may use is requesting full access to your medical records, searching for information they can use against you. We fight back against these types of fishing expeditions and have successfully fought in court to limit the records insurance companies ask for in discovery requests.

Experienced, aggressive, board-certified attorneys

By law, employers can choose the doctor that treats your hearing loss. But that doctor does not have your best interests in mind. If needed, we will arrange for you to get an independent medical evaluation and use that as we build a solid case for why you should be receiving workers' compensation benefits.

We take workers' compensation law very seriously. Some of our attorneys - including founder Adam Kotlar - have been board-certified in workers' compensation law by the New Jersey Supreme Court. Board certification is a very lengthy and thorough process that is difficult to attain. Fewer than 3% of attorneys in the state are board certified in any area of specialty.
